Faith

Matthew 21:21-22
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Nick Vujicic

The first time that I saw Nick Vujicic was when I received a link to a you tube video. It began with a close up of his face, I remember thinking how happy and at peace he was by looking at his eyes and hearing him speak. As the camera pulled back it revealed that he does not have arms and legs (he was born without them) and I was even more amazed. Nick is truly an inspiration!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
Courage

In 1980 our young Canadian hero, Terrance Stanley "Terry" Fox decided to run across Canada in order to draw awareness and raise funds for cancer research. With one artificial leg (his right leg was amputated), Terry courageously ran his "Marathon of Hope" beginning in St. John’s, Newfoundland on April 12, 1980. Determined to reach his goal, Terry bravely headed west, while gaining admiration, friends and support along the way. However, after 143 days and 5,373 kilometres (3,339 mi) due to the cancer spreading, Terry was forced to stop his journey just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Sadly, Terry was not able to continue his run, as his condition began to deteriorate. Terry lost his battle with cancer on June 28, 1981 at only 22 years of age. Today the "Terry Fox Run" is held annually in Canada as well as several other countries around the world. Over $550 million (and continually growing....) has been raised in Terry's name worldwide.

Thank you Terry!

“I don’t feel that this is unfair. That’s the thing about cancer. I’m not the only one, it happens all the time to people. I’m not special. This just intensifies what I did. It gives it more meaning. It’ll inspire more people. I just wish people would realize that anything’s possible if you try; dreams are made possible if you try." - Terry Fox

Stay Gold

In accepting an honorary doctor of music degree at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1996, Wonder said: "Many years ago, but not so long ago, there were those who said, 'Well, you have three strikes against you: You're Black, you're blind and you're poor.' But God said to me, 'I will make you rich in the spirit of inspiration, to inspire others as well as create music to encourage the world to a place of oneness and hope and positivity.' I believed Him and not them."

“The Lord that I serve says the impossible is unacceptable.” - Stevie Wonder
Patience and Persistence

Bill Porter was born in 1932 with cerebral palsy. CP affected Bill's speech and his entire body (especially his right side). Despite his challenges, Bill graduated from high school. Rather than receiving disability payments, Bill wanted to work and earn his living. After many rejections, Bill convinced the Watkins company (Portland, Oregon) to give him their worst route in order to sell their products door to door. With his determination and mother's encouragement (she would write little notes such as "Patience" and "Persistence" for him to find in his pockets or with his lunch), Bill eventually became the top salesman at Watkins.

Sadly, Bill passed away on December 3, 2013.

Bill's segment on 20/20.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." – Calvin Coolidge
Belmopan Angel

I came across a photograph of this little girl while building a website for an orphanage located in Belmopan, Belize. I will never forget those eyes, the expression on her face and her circumstance...which are the inspiration for this piece. For W and the kids & staff at KCH.

Matthew 18:3
Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
